In four volumes: Comedies, liii + 1080; Histories, 1197; Tragedies, 1471; and Poems, 247 printed pages. Red speckled edges to print blocks. 15 x 23 cm. "Printed and bound by William Clowes and Sons at Beccles on india paper". A very fresh set. Publisher's gilt-blocked and lettered quarter cloth - spines brown, sides marbled, original card slipcase. Wood engraved title to each play by Reynolds Stone. Some fading and wear to the slipcase, the books very good. Some remnants of original glassine dustwrappers on three of the volumes. These volumes constitute "The New Nonesuch Shakespeare", with dedication pages "to H.M.Queen Elizabeth ii in the year of her coronation"; the private press printed a seven volume edition of Shakespeare's works in 1929.
