Brown, William, of Paisley.
Gleniffer and Glen Rosa.
Paisley : A. Gardner, 1912

FIRST EDITION 319 pages, foredges uncut; some leaves unopened. 28 unnumbered leaves of plates : illustrations ; contemporary owner's signature ("W.Spence") and feint residue of sticky tape on front free endpaper. 14 x 20 cm. Original red cloth. Spine slightly faded. In his work, William Brown  brought together the poetic and political lineages and demonstrated the crucial role that poetry played in the making of Paisley as a radical burgh. Paisley political poets, such as Brown,  made great use of their widely recognised folk tradition. WorldCat lists just 13 copies worldwide and only three in the UK (not in British Library).
