Second edition.158 printed pages. Original yellow endpapers; back endpapers slightly stained and with a minuscule tear at the top. 35 x 44 mm. Original black morocco; spine with roccocco style ornamental decoration in gilt; front cover with gilt titling; both covers  with central lozenge motif and with borders matching the decoration on the spine, all in gilt.  Elaborately gilt stamped on both covers and spine. (See similarly bound 'History of England') Adomeit B78 writes no first edition has been located. Welsh 1037/1039 for second editions. Contains Old Testament paraphrases only Adomeit dates as ca. 1845-50, but P.A.H. Brown, London publishers and printers, ca 1800-1870, dates the firm Rock Bros. & Payne as active 1844-83, so possibly issued later. Welsh, 1039. OCLC, 226318842.
