1849. 37th edition. Etiquette for the ladies. Eighty maxims on dress, manners, and accomplishments.

63 printed pages. Printed by Bradbury & Evans, Whitefriars, London.  Vignette title-page. Back hinge split but still firm. Appendix on etiquette of a court levee.

Original pale yellow endpapers.

Publisher's green decoratively embossed cloth. Gilt stamped front cover image of two females, shaking hands, above the words  "Etiquette for Ladies". Very lightly rubbed.

Extraordinarily patronising advice from an era when that was considered acceptable. "Scarcely anything is so repulsive in a lady - so utterly plebeian, as speaking in a loud harsh voice....When a gentleman offers to dance with you, do not, unless for some very special reason, refuse." &c.
